The Great Question Number Six
6. Is idealism—the approaching concept of the divine—desirable? Then must man struggle in an environment of relative goodness and beauty, surroundings stimulative of the irrepressible reach for better things.

The Great Goal of Hue-manimal Existence
It is to the mind of perfect poise, housed in a body of clean habits, stabilized neural energies, and balanced chemical function—when the physical, mental, and spiritual powers are in triune harmony of development—that a maximum of light and truth can be imparted with a minimum of temporal danger or risk to the real welfare of such a being. By such a balanced growth does man ascend the circles of planetary progression one by one, from the seventh to the first.
On the Path to Understanding the "Mastery of Self"
It is accurate to say that "understanding" the 28 principles of "high mortal philosophy" found in Paper 48, The Morontia Life required the asking of many questions and not a small amount of meditative thinking on them.
In the minds of perhaps the majority of hue-man children of God on Urantia, at any one moment, there is no greater fear than the fear of...death...
It is accurate to say that the "fear of death" is the universal "self-affliction," which leads to every "character deficiency" and so-called diseases of the mind and body.- Why is there a universal "fear of death?"
"Unworthiness, Separation and Aloneness"
My answer is that separation from Father's indwelling divine spirit-presence--The Thought Adjuster is ever and always just that...separation...
These "feelings" of "unworthiness," "separation," and "aloneness" only arise within the nonreasoning, illogical thought patterns of the fear-beLIEf-bound body-mind connection.
- Why is there a universal "fear of death?"
"Unworthiness, Separation and Aloneness"
My answer is that separation from Father's indwelling divine4:4.9 The consciousness of a victorious human life on earth is born of that creature faith which dares to challenge each recurring episode of existence when confronted with the awful spectacle of human limitations, by the unfailing declaration: Even if I cannot do this, there lives in me one who can and will do it, a part of the Father-Absolute of the universe of universes. And that is “the victory which overcomes the world, even your faith.”
There is no such thing as intellectual faith. Intellectual faith is
"mere beLIEf." And beLIEf ever fixates; it may be the cement for the foundation that supports the "scaffolding" from which the reality of a home for "real life" to take place; but beLIEf is not the "real life" that takes place within the home.Faith is only a "reality" when it is the "living connection" to Father's indwelling divine spirit-presence -- The Thought Adjuster.
And within the inner experience of this "living faith-connection" to "Father's loving will and light within the mind," there is no such thing as...death...
There is only transition from one form of life into another.
Thoughts Regarding Death
In 1995, I began a question to super consciously eliminate the word "death" from my vocabulary. Along with my continuing studies and research in The Urantia Book, I took a hand-held recorder with me everywhere I went, so that I would not lose any thoughts I had regarding this word "death."
This collection of thoughts on death further led to recording "I am declarations" to eliminate the word "death" from unconscious fear and use of it in my daily thought-feelings interactions with self and others.
Ultimately, this led to writing an article based on all of my collected thoughts, which I entitled "The Sayings of Tim R. Walls Regarding Death." I encourage you to go to this page and read it in its entirety.
In 2015, I again revisited my thoughts about death and immortality in the following poem:
(1226.3) 112:0.15 13. Personality may survive mortal death with identity in the surviving soul. The Adjuster and the personality are changeless; the relationship between them (in the soul) is nothing but change, continuing evolution; and if this change (growth) ceased, the soul would cease.
Eliminate the Word...Death...from Your Vocabulary...and Focus on Living...
48:7.25 23. Death added nothing to the intellectual possession or to the spiritual endowment, but it did add to the experiential status the consciousness of survival.
Turning this Principle into a Personal "I am" Declaration
I am ever-momentarily aware of my transitioning out of the bio-suit into translation-fusion with you, my indwelling divine spirit-partner.
I am ever-momentarily aware of my transitioning out of the bio-suit into translation-fusion with you, my indwelling divine spirit-partner.
Always remember: it is not possible to grow into the "living spiritual value" contained within an intellectual principle typed onto a page; you must "internalize" the principle by converting it into a personal "I am" declaration of the person you desire to become.- Are you super consciously (soul-consciously) aware of your "living faith" connection to your indwelling Thought Adjuster?
When your answer to this question is "yes," you are already an immortal ascending child of our Paradise Father.
And you ought to be willing to declare that your beLIEf-concept of death is based entirely upon an assigned meaning to a hue-man word, which has a negative and self-imprisoning vibration.
Now, when you accept that the word death, like ALL hue-man words are "arbitrarily contrived," you may the better comprehend that the transition from the mortal material bio-suit into the morontial body-soul mind, and/or the translation out of the mortal material bio-suit into fusion with the indwelling Thought Adjuster has (not had) no contribution whatsoever to the intellectual possession or the spiritual endowment.
And this is the deeper, if not the deepest experiential meaning within the 23rd of the 28 principles in The Urantia Book.
The 23rd principle is about self-direction. And it takes experiential spiritual courage to self-correct, self-discipline and exercise self-control, and ever-momentarily self-direct back to alignment with Father's will, by giving our most honestly sincere cooperation to the spirit-leading of the indwelling divine spirit--the Thought Adjuster -- all of which leads to self-mastery.
- Are you super consciously (soul-consciously) aware of your "living faith" connection to your indwelling Thought Adjuster?
The 23rd of the 28 principles in The Urantia Book correlates to the individual child of God vibrationally responding to the marshalling impulse of the sixth (6th) Adjutant Mind spirit of Worship (cosmic insight). The 23rd principle is the third (3rd) of the set of principles 21 through 24, which are the generalized requirements to experientially master the second (2nd) psychic circle of experiential spiritual cosmic insight into the reality of the Paradise Father, also corresponding to the sixth (6th) planetary age and the sixth (6th) Mansion Training World system of educational and socialization equivalency requirements.
Note: Any of the first twenty (20) principles representing the generalized requirements for the mastery of the seventh, six, fifth, fourth and third psychic circles of experiential spiritual intuition, experiential spiritual understanding, experiential spiritual courage, experiential spiritual knowledge, and experiential spiritual fraternalhood, which were not mastered (after entrance in the second (2nd) psychic circle) will be carried over into the second for further experiential acquirement.
The Great Goal of Hue-man Attainment
- I am the mind of perfect poise.
- I am housed in a body of clean habits, and clear and pure thinking.
- I am stabilized in neural energies.
- I am balanced in chemical function.
- I am ever-momentarily transferring all mortal experiential meanings and values into the unifying whole.
- I am ever-momentarily unifying the physical, mental, and spiritual powers with the "I am that I am" personality.
- I am ever-momentarily giving you, my indwelling divine partner and Thought Controller, my most honest, sincere, and dedicated cooperation in attaining to "supremacy of spirit domination over mind and matter."

1. Body 1. self-correction 2. Mind 2. self-discipline / self-control3. Soul 3. self-direction to spirit-leading,4. Spirit 4. self-mastery
Personality unity self-realizes supremacy of spirit domination over mind and matter.
What is your definition of religion? How do you define 'your religion?'How do you keep your religion...pure...?
Personal religion must be kept uncontaminated by:
1. maintaining a self-corrective philosophy of daily living.2. maintaining non-involvement and impartiality with regard to all social, economic, and political alliances.3. seeking out and maintaining creative, comforting, and love-expanding relations with one's fellow beings.4. enhancing personal progress of spiritual insight and the appreciation of cosmic values.5. prevention of fanaticism by the compensations of the scientific mental attitude.
What is a character deficiency?What is self-correction of a character-deficiency?What are the steps involved in correcting one's own character-deficiencies?What replaces a character-deficiency?
Does a character-deficiency automatically disappear when one is exercising self-correction, self-control and self-direction?
1. Self-correction.
99:3.7 The great weakness of all this unrecognized and unconscious type of religious activity is that it is unable to profit from open religious criticism and thereby attain to profitable levels of self-correction. It is a fact that religion does not grow unless it is disciplined by constructive criticism, amplified by philosophy, purified by science, and nourished by loyal fellowship.
2. Self-control.
54:1.6 True liberty is the associate of genuine self-respect; false liberty is the consort of self-admiration. True liberty is the fruit of self-control; false liberty, the assumption of self-assertion. Self-control leads to altruistic service; self-admiration tends towards the exploitation of others for the selfish aggrandizement of such a mistaken individual as is willing to sacrifice righteous attainment for the sake of possessing unjust power over his fellow beings.
3. Self-direction.
36:5.8. 3. The spirit of courage—the fidelity endowment—in personal beings, the basis of character acquirement and the intellectual root of moral stamina and spiritual bravery. When enlightened by facts and inspired by truth, this becomes the secret of the urge of evolutionary ascension by the channels of intelligent and conscientious self-direction.
4. Supremacy of spirit domination over mind and matter.
109:3.2 ...comparatively few will elect to ascend the moral heights beyond the hills of self-mastery and character acquirement to attain the higher levels of emerging spirituality.
