From Managing Your Mind
What Does Greatness Really Mean?
By the standard of learning "how to manage your mind," you grasp that "greatness comes from within."
Let greatness also signify the answers to "are you growing?" and "how satisfied are you in personal life path progression?
And further, how service-minded are you? Are you looking for everyone to solve your problems for you? Or are you looking at how you can be of service and solve other's problems?
48:7.27 25. Greatness lies not so much in possessing strength as in making a wise and divine use of such strength.
Each of us possesses a varying amount of physical and mental strength. Whenever you compare yourself to the strengths of another (no matter what they are), you are setting yourself up for failure. Greatness comes from within.
You may imitate (mimic) the best qualities you see in others. There is nothing wrong with this practice, as long as it serves the purpose of your making those qualities your own; you become those qualities in your own unique way, but never losing yourself (your true identity) in the mimicry.
Divine Greatness vs. Hue-man Greatness
There are many who strive for hue-man greatness (in their own eyes and others). But according to the above high principle of spiritual philosophy: making a wise and divine use of strength ought to be the goal of mortal striving.
And such high mortal attainment of unifying the physical, mental and spiritual powers is not only potential but possible. But you have to feelingly desire to grow into this high spiritual status.
There are many on this planet, who try to achieve this...without God--not your will, God, but my will be done.
And no matter how much deep-seated mystical, metaphysical, philosophical, religious, mythical and scientific-based beLIEfs are involved in their fraudulent attempts to achieve longer lives or foist beLIEfs of attainment to "ascended masters" status, it simply cannot be done without a living relationship with Father's indwelling divine spirit.
Indeed, greatness comes from within. And it comes from aligning the hue-man will with the will of God; this is a living connection. If it is severed, potential immortal is lost. As long as it is maintained...immortality is attained at the end of a short and intense earthly struggle to be a person of true character and cosmic nobility.
Slowly read the following passages from The Urantia Book. Read them again and again until they begin to take root inside of your mind. Greatness comes from within.
2. Adjusters and Human Will110:2.5 You as a personal creature have mind and will. The Adjuster as a prepersonal creature has premind and prewill. If you so fully conform to the Adjuster’s mind that you see eye to eye, then your minds become one, and you receive the reinforcement of the Adjuster’s mind. Subsequently, if your will orders and enforces the execution of the decisions of this new or combined mind, the Adjuster’s prepersonal will attains to personality expression through your decision, and as far as that particular project is concerned, you and the Adjuster are one. Your mind has attained to divinity attunement, and the Adjuster’s will has achieved personality expression.110:2.6 To the extent that this identity is realized, you are mentally approaching the morontia order of existence. Morontia mind is a term signifying the substance and sum total of the co-operating minds of diversely material and spiritual natures. Morontia intellect, therefore, connotes a dual mind in the local universe dominated by one will. And with mortals this is a will, human in origin, which is becoming divine through man’s identification of the human mind with the mindedness of God.
"Do you not comprehend that God dwells within you, that he has become what you are that he may make you what he is!” 148:6.10110:2.5 You as a personal creature have mind and will.
In the very first sentence we understand that we, as children of the Father are endowed with personality and mind. Thus, we are personal beings (able to absolutely know "I am that I am" and to know and recognize our fellow beings. We are endowed with, not only these priceless spiritual gifts, but by virtue of these gifts, we have and exercise the gift of free will choosing.
The Adjuster as a prepersonal creature has premind and prewill.
In the second sentence, we learn that the Thought Adjuster, the divine spirit-fragment which originates from the Father, is a being of premind and prewill. As I understand it (presently), this Thought Adjuster is endowed with a type of mind that is also divine and before mind as we know it, and after personality. So, this divine spirit-mind is subordinate to personality-choosing. Greatness comes from within.
If you so fully conform to the Adjuster’s mind that you see eye to eye, then your minds become one, and you receive the reinforcement of the Adjuster’s mind.
All my life I have heard so many others, including myself (in earlier decades) say thoughts, like:
- God willing.
- If God wills it.
- If it's God's will.
- If I only knew what God's will is.
From the sentence above, we can deduce that the Thought Adjuster is not only a divine spirit, which the Paradise Father, sends out from Himself, this divine spirit also has mind.
And it is my further understanding (presently) that this divine spirit-fragment direct from the Universal Father Himself arrives and indwells the mortal of his choosing, bringing with him a divine blueprint for ascension beyond the mortal identity-experience, perfection of true character and immortalization by fusing with this divine Thought Adjuster at some point before the cessation of life-force within the physiological mechanism, or at some point along the journey through the angelic educational training worlds.
So then, by aligning the hue-man will with the will of the Thought Adjuster, you are, in fact (not fiction), aligning your will with the will of God within you.
And when you, daily, choose to do this one simple thing, you begin to increasingly ascend into vibrational harmony-unity with the mind of the Adjuster, thereby receiving the reinforcement of God's will (divine master blueprint) for your spiritualization, along your life-path journey.
You Are Transcending the Hue-manimal into Angel into Divine Mortal Son of God
Subsequently, if your will orders and enforces the execution of the decisions of this new or combined mind, the Adjuster’s prepersonal will attains to personality expression through your decision, and as far as that particular project is concerned, you and the Adjuster are one. Your mind has attained to divinity attunement, and the Adjuster’s will has achieved personality expression.
Let's take, as an example, the writing of an article. The example could be any project you decide upon, which adds value to the life of another, or your own forward progression.
In writing an article, you may "allow yourself" to invite Father's divine Thought Adjuster into your article-writing project. Then, just begin writing, in faith, that you are receiving the influence of the Thought Adjuster's words of encouragement and wisdom flowing through your fingers into written expression. Greatness comes from within.
This is exactly what I have been doing, and continue doing, in the writing of articles. And I know, in faith, that my Thought Adjuster and I are writing the words, together. The more frequently you do this (inviting in the Thought Adjuster and writing), the clearer you begin expressing your thoughts.
But what if you were to begin inviting your Thought Adjuster into every good endeavor (permanently) you choose to create and manifest to others for their uplifting?
Soon, very soon, this becomes a whole new system of faith-reality expression of the divine spirit within you.
The blending of divine spirit-mind with hue-man personality is an unconscious process of slow but sure manifestation. However, over time, as you become more real to yourself, your Thought Adjuster and you are becoming "one personality."
And again, we are exploring and revealing the deeper understanding of this passage from The Urantia Book:
110:6.4 When the development of the intellectual nature proceeds faster than that of the spiritual, such a situation renders communication with the Thought Adjuster both difficult and dangerous. Likewise, overspiritual development tends to produce a fanatical and perverted interpretation of the spirit leadings of the divine indweller. Lack of spiritual capacity makes it very difficult to transmit to such a material intellect the spiritual truths resident in the higher superconsciousness.It is to the mind of perfect poise, housed in a body of clean habits, stabilized neural energies, and balanced chemical function—when the physical, mental, and spiritual powers are in triune harmony of development—that a maximum of light and truth can be imparted with a minimum of temporal danger or risk to the real welfare of such a being.By such a balanced growth does man ascend the circles of planetary progression one by one, from the seventh to the first.
What I hope that you may glean from this exploration is that the path mortal ascension is real--not a metaphysical and philosophical fantasizing about reincarnation, ascended masters, Akashic records, rainbow bodies, and on and on. Focus yourself on reality--not fiction.
Mortal ascension from animal to angel to divine mortal son of God may be achieved even while yet wrapped in the envelope of the mortal physiological energy-system.
The "secret" has to be discovered by each individual. And that "secret to ascension" is:
- First, choosing to believe in God.
- Second, choosing to align the hue-manimal will with the will of God within you.
- Third, inviting the will of God (the Thought Adjuster) into your life-activities--"allowing" Father's divine spirit-mind-will to be fully participatory in a project.
- Fourth, "allowing" this invitation to become "permanent," so that it becomes your new way of perceiving, thinking and living.
- become increasingly more soul-conscious,
- begin manifesting truer and truer character,
- and Father's will and your will are becoming increasingly more aligned and "one will."
