When Divine Love is Passing through YOU...

48:7.17 15. Affectation is the ridiculous effort of the ignorant to appear wise, the attempt of the barren soul to appear rich.

Pretension--the Falsification of Truth

Pretension was Lucifer's, Satan's, Caligastia's, Daligastia's and sixty members of their visible staff's great sin. Intentional (knowing) falsification of truth is a sin, the persistence in which may lead to eventual extinction of existence.

Proof of this may be perceived in our Creator Father's response:

67:1.2 In the course of this inspection Satan informed Caligastia of Lucifer's then proposed "Declaration of Liberty," and as we now know, the Prince agreed to betray the planet upon the announcement of the rebellion. The loyal universe personalities look with peculiar disdain upon Prince Caligastia because of this premeditated betrayal of trust. The Creator Son voiced this contempt when he said: "You are like your leader, Lucifer, and you have sinfully perpetuated his iniquity. He was a falsifier from the beginning of his self-exaltation because he abode not in the truth."

 And it is the affection (pretension) of speaking truth--the "unreality of deceit" and the foisting of fraudulent lies upon untold billions of mortal souls on Urantia (Earth) which is the broad and deep infection of the Lucifer rebellion.

This "unreality of deceit" has ever run rampant across our beautiful planet, and it is reaching its climax, now, in the great spiritual battle for the collective souls of the Urantian children of our Paradise Father.

"I looked in temples, churches, and mosques. But I found the Divine within my heart." -Rumi

The Great Challenge of Portraying Father's Divine Love

Only a person can love other persons. Fact. Not fiction. 

Therefore, if you accept that our Paradise Father is "divine love," he cannot possibly be some "Nebulous It." 

Rather, he is divine love personified. God, our Paradise Father, the Eternal Son, and the Infinite Spirit are absolute divine persons, who divinely love all of their children, both mortal and divine, equally up to their capacity to receive divine love. And this is true throughout the inhabited universes of time and space.

This divine love in the Creator Sons of the Paradise Father and the Eternal Son is further evidenced by Michael of Nebadon's declaration, while living the life of Joshua Ben Joseph, in the following quote:

"Today I can be with you only in person. In the times to come I will be with you and all other men who desire my presence, wherever you may be, and with each of you at the same time." 

Jesus, The Urantia Book, The Farewell Discourse, (180:4.1).


Our Sovereign Creator Father was our Paradise Father's personality revealed in and through the life of Joshua Ben Joseph. Jesus said in this same passage:

180:4.1 "Already is my Father's spirit in your hearts, and when this day shall come, you will also have me with you even as you now have the Father."

Our Creator Father Michael, incarnated into the mortal life of Jesus of Nazareth, was the personality of our Paradise Father revealed to all of his children, both mortal and divine, throughout the whole of the local universe of Nebadon, and indeed, throughout the whole of the Grand Universe.

When Divine Love is Passing through YOU...

The above concepts are challenging enough, in and of themselves, for we mortals to strive to comprehend.

The Father's love can become real to mortal man only by passing through that man's personality as he in turn bestows this love upon his fellows.

The Urantia Book, (117:6.10)

It, however, in my perception, is even more challenging to comprehend the idea of "allowing" Paradise Father's personality to pass through your personality in the experience of divinely loving (desiring to do good to) fellow children--brothers and sisters, here on Urantia. 

This "divine love" transcends fraternal love of one's fellow children of God. Fraternal love transcends into "fatherly love."
  • And what is "fatherly love?" 
  • What "characterizes" "fatherly love?"
2:6.4  ...Jesus revealed God as the Father of each human being. The entire mortal concept of God is transcendently illuminated by the life of Jesus. Selflessness is inherent in parental love. God loves not like a father, but as a father. He is the Paradise Father of every universe personality.

2:6.5 ...love gives and craves affection, seeks understanding fellowship such as exists between parent and child. ...love is a father's attitude. 

2:6.9 Facing the world of personality, God is discovered to be a loving person; facing the spiritual world, he is a personal love; in religious experience he is both. Love identifies the volitional will of God. The goodness of God rests at the bottom of the divine free-willness—the universal tendency to love, show mercy, manifest patience, and minister forgiveness.

So, in summary of understanding the "characteristics" of a father's love, we perceive that...
  • a father's love is...selfless...
  • you love as a father...not like a father...
  • a father's love gives and craves affection...
  • seeks understanding fellowship (as between a parent and a child)...
  • a true father is a loving person...
  • a father's love is the genuine spiritual unity relationship between personalities...
  • a true father 
    • gives love, 
    • shows mercy, 
    • manifests patience, and 
    • ministers forgiveness.
 144:2.4 “Which of you who is a father, if his son asks unwisely, would hesitate to give in accordance with parental wisdom rather than in the terms of the son's faulty petition? If the child needs a loaf, will you give him a stone just because he unwisely asks for it? If your son needs a fish, will you give him a watersnake just because it may chance to come up in the net with the fish and the child foolishly asks for the serpent? If you, then, being mortal and finite, know how to answer prayer and give good and appropriate gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the spirit and many additional blessings to those who ask him? Men ought always to pray and not become discouraged.

144:2.5 “Let me tell you the story of a certain judge who lived in a wicked city. This judge feared not God nor had respect for man. Now there was a needy widow in that city who came repeatedly to this unjust judge, saying, `Protect me from my adversary.' For some time he would not give ear to her, but presently he said to himself: `Though I fear not God nor have regard for man, yet because this widow ceases not to trouble me, I will vindicate her lest she wear me out by her continual coming.' These stories I tell you to encourage you to persist in praying and not to intimate that your petitions will change the just and righteous Father above. Your persistence, however, is not to win favor with God but to change your earth attitude and to enlarge your soul's capacity for spirit receptivity.

144:2.6 “But when you pray, you exercise so little faith. Genuine faith will remove mountains of material difficulty which may chance to lie in the path of soul expansion and spiritual progress.”

When YOU experientially become the living embodiment of a true father's love...that is when divine love is passing through YOU... In the experientially earned and attained state of full morontia soul-consciousness and self-awareness of being a morontia ascending child of our Paradise Father...ALL pretension has vanished...


Anything and everything that falls short of the Fatherhood of God at the Center of reality and the center within each individual mind, and the consequent brotherhood-sisterhood - the spiritual fraternalhood which unifies us as the spiritual children of God having unique material experiences...is "doomed to fail."
